The after-dinner calm

Infusion Long infusion

A gentle blend for the comfort of a bloated, air-filled belly, pleasant after dinner and conducive to a good night's sleep.

Composition

A “measure” is a unit of proportion (e.g. a tablespoon) to adjust to the volume you want. Underlined ingredients link to their plant entry.

Preparation

Infusion

Pour boiling water over the plants (fresh or dried) and leave to infuse for 10 to 20 minutes, covered, then strain.

Long infusion

In a heatproof jar, cover with boiling water and leave to infuse for at least 3 to 4 h, or even overnight for a stronger preparation. Drunk during the day, iced or gently warmed.

Precautions

  • Licorice: not advised in case of high blood pressure or pregnancy; no prolonged use.
  • Chamomile: caution if allergic to the Asteraceae.
  • Peppermint: not advised for young children or in case of gastric reflux.
  • Fennel: as a precaution, avoid prolonged or concentrated use during pregnancy, breastfeeding and for young children (estragole content; EMA/HMPC).
  • Ginger: caution at high doses and in case of anticoagulant treatment.

These preparations belong to herbal tradition: they aim for comfort and support, do not “cure” anything and do not replace medical advice. Ask a doctor, pharmacist or herbalist before prolonged use, if under treatment, pregnant or breastfeeding, or for a child.
