When reserves run low

Infusion Long infusion

A blend traditionally used to support the body in times of fatigue, with gotu kola and licorice (plants of the adaptogen tradition) and lemon balm. A comforting drink when reserves are at their lowest.

Composition

A “measure” is a unit of proportion (e.g. a tablespoon) to adjust to the volume you want. Underlined ingredients link to their plant entry.

Preparation

Infusion

Pour boiling water over the plants (fresh or dried) and leave to infuse for 10 to 20 minutes, covered, then strain.

Long infusion

In a heatproof jar, cover with boiling water and leave to infuse for at least 3 to 4 h, or even overnight for a stronger preparation. Drunk during the day, iced or gently warmed.

Precautions

  • Licorice: not advised in case of high blood pressure or pregnancy; no prolonged use (beyond 4 to 6 weeks).
  • Gotu kola: use for a limited time; not advised during pregnancy or in case of liver damage.
  • Persistent exhaustion calls for medical advice.

These preparations belong to herbal tradition: they aim for comfort and support, do not “cure” anything and do not replace medical advice. Ask a doctor, pharmacist or herbalist before prolonged use, if under treatment, pregnant or breastfeeding, or for a child.
