The breath of aromatics
An aromatic blend traditionally used for the comfort of the airways (sinuses, passing cough). Thyme, oregano and rosemary are rich in warming aromatic compounds. It can be sweetened with a squeeze of freshly pressed lemon juice or a little unpasteurised honey.
Composition
A “measure” is a unit of proportion (e.g. a tablespoon) to adjust to the volume you want. Underlined ingredients link to their plant entry.
Preparation
Infusion
Pour boiling water over the plants (fresh or dried) and leave to infuse for 10 to 20 minutes, covered, then strain.
Precautions
- Thyme, oregano and rosemary are not advised in concentrated form during pregnancy or for young children.
- Cinnamon: coumarin (cassia cinnamon) can be undesirable at high doses and over a prolonged period.
- In case of asthma or a persistent infection, consult a health professional.
These preparations belong to herbal tradition: they aim for comfort and support, do not “cure” anything and do not replace medical advice. Ask a doctor, pharmacist or herbalist before prolonged use, if under treatment, pregnant or breastfeeding, or for a child.
